Celery needs 90 to 120 days to full-sized edibility. This open-pollinated variety “Utah” yields vigorous, stocky plants with thick, solid, tender yet crisp stalks. Celery seed is one of the most efficient of all diuretics. Plant prefers sun, rich soil and frequent watering. Mound soil up around plant as it grows to keep the stalks light-green and crisp. Sow in spring.
Seeds are slow to germinate, and if transplanted outside too early, plants will bolt in response to cold. Also requires consistent moisture and dislikes heat.

Ease-of-care: Difficult-Seeds need to be started inside and are difficult to germinate. Cold weather after transplanting can cause bolting. Needs plentiful moisture and long season, but doesn’t tolerate heat well.

Features:
Harvest in 120 days
Grow in seed trays, and plant out in 4-6 weeks. Sow seed at a depth approximately three times the diameter of the seed.
Best planted at soil temperatures between 12°C and 21°C.
Space plants: 15-30cm

Planting/Growing Tips:
To Blanch: plant in trenches 15- 20 cm (6-8 in) deep and 20cm (8in) apart. Leave about 40 cm (17 in) between rows. Fill the trenches gradually and keep well watered as the plants grow. The plants can be lifted as needed after about 11 weeks. Alternatively wrap the plants in sleeves of paper or black plastic.
Celery needs moist fertile soil.
