About Hedge Shear:
Hand-operated hedge shears, more than any other gardening tool, look like giant scissors. They have long, straight blades typically somewhat under a foot long, sometimes wavy-edged to hold stems in place as they cut (but which are harder to sharpen).
With such long blades, hedge shears are designed to cut a much larger area with each stroke than any other pruning tool (unless you consider a machete a pruning tool). For this reason, and since they are straight, they create long, straight edges on your plant as they cut. As you can imagine, this is not the natural shape of any plant, and not right for most plant care in your garden.

About Bypass Pruner:
Bypass pruners have a stainless steel curved blade that uses a scissors action to pass next to, not on top of, the lower surface, sometimes called the hook, designed to catch and hold the branch while the cutting blade comes down.
Bypass pruners offer a cleaner cut, as the blade slices all the way through the stem.

About Lopping Shear:
Lopping shear handles are typically made from either carbon-fiber or aluminum so that they are light weight and strong.
Handles are usually covered by plastic shock absorbing grips to help protect the gardener from joint injuries while gardening.
Besides cutting through branches, roots, and vines, loppers are practical for cutting through small cactus. The handle length provides sufficient distance between the gardener and the plant to prevent injuries from thorns.
