  • Hibiscus (Orange) :  Hibiscus is a woody evergreen shrub that flowers throughout the year if placed in direct sunlight. Colour of the flower will be subject to the plants available.

Light: Hibiscus needs direct sunlight to flower profusely. Ideal places are open terraces or gardens. In case of apartment dwellers, any balcony that receives good 4 hrs of direct sunlight is suitable.

    Watering: Water everyday.

  • Tillandsia flexuosa (flex-oo-OH-sa) is a thick, stiff-leaved species that means it has the good succulent capacity (the leaves can store quite a bit of water for drought periods).

  • Tillandsia ionantha v. vanhynigii has the most succulent (thickest) leaves of any for of T. ionantha. Perhaps because of that, it has fewer leaves as well.

  • Tillandsia Andreana (ahn-dray-AH-na) is a hemispherical species that is superficially similar in appearance to Tillandsia funckiana but it does not grow along a stem.

  • These air plants will prefer less frequent waterings than many varieties, and we recommend dunking or misting them versus soaking.

  • The Velutina air plant is from the same family as the Brachycaulos air plant, and has quite a few similarities. They both feature wide, thick, leaves. The shade of the Velutina plant ranges from the prettiest soft sage green, to bright lime green, to a lovely moss green. It will also transition to a blush mauve color as it matures. And instead of the smooth waxy texture of the Brachycaulos, the leaves of the Velutina air plant are velvety soft to the touch. It can also develop a lovely yellow and pink leaves when the plant blooms. And when it does produce a spike and flower, the spike is a brilliant and eye catching bright red. The base of the plant can also develop a brown coloring, which is not an indication of health.

  • Tillandsia tricolor has bright green leaves and castaneous (dark brown) leaf sheaths (bases) and, interestingly, the transition between the two has many small brown spots that dot the green leaf blade. In bright light, the leaf blades of T. tricolor will often blush red.

  • Tillandsia Schiedeana has whitish, long, thin leaves

This grows well outside with lots of light

  • Similar to Tillandsia Caput Madusae, Tillandsia Paucifolia AKA Potbelly air plant, has pronounced trichomes giving it a “fuzzy” appearance, a bulbous base, and wonderfully animated leaf structures. It is native to Central America, central and southern Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, the West Indies, and Florida. Easy to grow, these air plants prefer bright filtered light and moderate water. They do prefer warm humid coastal climates, as such they should be misted daily in dry areas. They grow singularly or in clumps in coastal strands and hammocks

  • FORM: Tall and grassy Juncifolia looks beautiful in a narrow vase. Juncifolia is usually a darker grassy green with a brown base, but some plants can have a bit of a brick red tint to them.

COLOR: Sage green leaves with a darker sage or brown base.

WATER: Soak once per week or mist regularly to prevent tipping.

MOUNTING: Cork, driftwood, great in window box or Orchid pot!

NATIVE HABITAT: Hybrid; parents Tillandsia Juncea and Tillandsia Filifolia

    • Eventual (Mature) Height: 40cm
    • Eventual (Mature) Width: 20cm
    • Flower colour: Pale Blue

  • The Tillandsia Bulbosa truly is a dark beauty of an air plant.

• The Tillandsia Ionantha is a beautiful air plant, and is a great first plant if you are new to air plant care.

These adorable plants feature layers upon layers of the prettiest silvery-green leaves, and an adorable round shape. When the Ionantha blooms, it will have the most beautiful violet flowers, and when in bloom the top of the plant will also turn a brilliant bright red. The flowering cycle on the Ionantha is one of the most beautiful of all of the air plant varieties.

Succulent Terrarium (Open Terrarium) : A terrarium is a collection of small plants growing in a transparent, sealed or open container. Inside a terrarium’s walls, many natural processes may be observed: photosynthesis, respiration and the water cycle.

Watering: Succulents live in arid environments and need very little water, especially when grown in a terrarium. You can spray them with a light mist every week, or water them every other week with a tiny bit of water by dripping water near the roots. It is much better to underwater than overwater these plants, as overwatering can lead to rot, which will kill the plants. If the plants are not getting enough water, their leaves may start to shrivel and droop a bit, but they recover quickly once you water them.

Light: Succulents like plenty of indirect light. They do well placed near a window that gets only indirect light for most of the day. Too much direct sunlight will burn the plants as the terrarium can get very warm.

Maintenance: Succulents require little maintenance. To discourage rot, it is best to remove fallen leaves from the terrarium. It is also good to allow the terrarium to receive fresh air from an open window when the weather allows.
