MAT – Male Annihilation Technique
Male Annihilation Technique (MAT) involves the process of attraction, trapping and killing of male flies using species specific sex pheromones. Once attracted, the male flies have to be trapped and killed either chemically or mechanically. This creates a gradual reduction in population of males which reduces mating.
Wood Impregnation Technology
Impregnation is a novel technique to preserve the characters of one compound using another base. We follow capillary impregnation technique, wherein the wood is activated and is ready to adsorb and entrap more pheromone molecules in its interstitial spaces of fibres. This enables the 2-step release: superficial adsorbed pheromone for flash release followed by slow and sustained release of the deeply trapped pheromone.
About Barrix Catch Fruit Fly Lure
A particular isomer of Sex Pheromone Allyl Veratrol also called Methyl eugenol is impregnated into the wood piece using ‘wood impregnation’ technology, which is an IIHR (Indian Institute of Horticultural Research) certified, accredited and patented technology.
We further improved and updated the method of impregnation of pheromone into the wood for better performance in the field.
This improved process increases the wood porosity for better penetration and holding capacity.
Through this process, an initial flash evaporation will occur where a higher dose of pheromone will be released after which there is a constant release of pheromones thereby providing efficacy for 45 days.
